Notepad++ takes too long to load

Notepad++ restores your session upon starting, but, does not show any loading progress. If the sessions contains large file, or files opened from a network share, notepad++ can take a long time to load without any indication of what it is doing.

If you run into this problem and don’t care about restoring your session. You can start notepad++ without loading the old session using command line as:

notepad++.exe –nosession

Alternatively you can delete the files, taking too long to load from the notepad++ session file C:\Users\[UserName]\AppData\Roaming\Notepad++\session.xml. session.xml is stored at this path on windows 7, the path might be different on other versions of windows.
